Modern day AFL, it's really heavily based now, I think, on owning territory.
It's all territory based, I think, in the modern game.
So you've got to have 120 minutes of pressure that can create enough turnovers defensively that then you can get into your offensive transition and shape.
So can you move the ball effectively on the back of your great defense for 120 minutes?
I just think the poor defensive sides β
If you're going to say what wins, great offense or great defense, I think you can't just go with all-out offense in the modern game for four quarters and expect to win.
So if I'm a Melbourne fan, I love watching them play at the moment.
Stephen King has been brilliant.
It's fun to watch them play, but they're just starting to get exposed now.
They're scoring, but they're getting scored against.
And I don't think that's sustainable in September.
So I think they're going to play finals or maybe in that wildcard block, but they've got to find a way because as pressure will increase, uncontested possessions do drop in the big games, in the September ones, and your offensive transition opportunities diminish.
So I just think the meaningful, strong defensive systems become so important.
You've got to have that almost locked away.
And that's what Collingwood do have, but they just can't score consistently.
but the Demons are the opposite at the moment.
They're going flat out offence, but unfortunately they're getting scored against.
Yeah, that's intriguing.
All right, the ruck battle, Max Gorn versus Darcy Cameron.
Yeah, so I'm one of the few people that actually enjoys going to the footy and watching the two rucks go at it.
