This is the part that people don't want to turn around.
How about your players are all tanking games, and you can't cut them?
Now, it probably wouldn't happen because the legal... But you've set a precedent now, right?

What he did was he made it okay for the guy to play because it helps him.
I know, but that's now a legal precedent that you cannot discipline somebody who says that they have an addiction.
And so if you tank the game and you try to cut the guy...
Can he now sue the team because we've set the precedent that, no, no, he has an addiction.
His mental health sucks, and so you can't cut him.
So we're going to put an injunction out for every player because the precedent has been set no matter which way you gamble on the team.
Or are we actually setting legal precedent that we know it's clearly shady and a problem when you bet on or bet for?
I mean, give baseball credit.

Pete only bet on his team, which I've explained many times over the years that, okay, so when he didn't bet on his team, he's making it pretty clear he doesn't think they're going to win.
And even more importantly, and there are histories to this, when he did bet on the Reds, he would empty the clip on the bullpen to get the win.
And I've talked to former Reds who will tell you that they all knew what was going on, and yes, they knew.
They would joke around about, you better be ready to come into the game.
