When you think of what is driving the US economy, what sectors do you think of?
Is it the tech bros in California, AI, the financial sector?
Well, they all play a role, but the fastest growing sector actually is healthcare.
Now, whether this is a healthy sign, foreign economy, has been dissected by my next guest in her regular column in the Financial Times.
It's great to welcome Rana Frohar, the global business columnist and associate editor with the Financial Times.
First up, Rana,
The piece itself stood out to me quite a lot, but the first number that I read really stopped me in my tracks.
And that is in the last month, in last month's job reports, healthcare accounted for a whopping 43% of all new jobs added.
Is that a good thing?
When you say we're spending, who's we?
Is it the government?
Is it the consumer?
Is it companies who often talk about the massive cost of health insurance?
Who's we, Rana?
Well, guess what?
What are you spending 10 hours a month every month on?
To basically act as a disincentive to claim it all.
