Like they're getting more strained and strained.
And then our forms of justice have broken down so much so that people commit an offence, they're not held accountable to make better choices to not do that thing again.
Like we're not giving people the tools and the resources once they've committed something, like once they've
broken the social contract.
So they've harmed someone or they've done something to harm that contract.
We're not giving them the tools and the resources to not further do any harm.
We put them in a prison and we go, don't do it again, but figure out how you're not going to do that.
And we don't actually, like as a society or as governments, we don't actually go, okay, these are the things you need to do to not commit that offense again.
And we're going to
make sure that everyone's safe by helping you not go back to prison or not go back to committing those offenses.
Yeah.
And I think that's where our system's kind of broken down is that it's all about the punishment and never about the accountability and the repair after that.
And we're so focused on the punishment side.
It's so vengeful.
that we've forgotten that people get out of prison.
They pretty much always, always get out of prison.
There's very few people who are doing the rest of their lives in there.
And so isn't it upon the people who we entrust to enact the forms of justice to make sure those people don't get out and commit another offence like we see in the media time and time and time again?
Yeah.
And the argument isn't about, well, for me, the argument isn't about whether these places should exist.
