My stepfather was very physically abusive.

My mother was an addict.

She would go away for a day or two at a time.

And one time she just didn't come back.

Our power went off.

And then the water went off.

When we were evicted from our home, I was 16.

I slept in the dumpster.

And then I would get up to school.

I'd go shower at school and pretend like everything was okay.

I had to.

I had no other option.

What I went through as a kid would have broke a lot of people.
