A significant mistake President Trump made in the first term is he kept James Comey on as the head of the FBI.

That was a catastrophic mistake and one that he certainly grew to regret as time went on.

I think the first Trump White House believed they could get Comey on the reservation, get him actually focused on doing his job as head of the FBI, rather than just being a partisan Democrat attacking them.

That was mistaken.

And from the earliest days,

Look, Michael Flynn, when he was named the incoming National Security Advisor, James Comey and the FBI were already going after him, trying to destroy him.

They tried to destroy, for four years, the deep state, tried to destroy Donald Trump.

They almost did.

It was literally concocted by Hillary Clinton's research opposition.

And to be clear...

It would have worked.
