I came into work really early the other day to beat traffic and had a bit of an inner conflict as to whether it'd be appropriate to get some shots up. It was around 7.20 a.m., and the office was 95% empty, though it wasn't after 3 p.m. or the 12 to 1 window. I thought it was fine since it was well before the workday. The sign also did not specify when restrictions on the basketball court started.

I think it kind of does, though, buddy. Yeah, I think it does. Yeah. If it was, say, 3 a.m., would that be allowed? 5 a.m.? In my head, I thought 8 a.m. made sense. Again, our guy showed up at 7.20. I began shooting free throws when one of the few people comes at me hot, asking me to, quote, calm down with the basketball.

I sheepishly say that I didn't know what the hour what hour the restrictions started and he angrily said I obviously couldn't play now to which I meekly asked him to calm down as I put the ball away and walk back towards my desk not wanting to escalate the situation both because I'm non-confrontational but also because I thought I was kind of in the wrong he yelled thank you as I walked away which I ignored now sitting at my desk and stewing for a few hours

I'm wondering, did he send this email, Dave? I love those. I'm wondering if I should ask the building's management to make a sign that more accurately describes when shooting free throws is permitted. I'm also tempted to play during the allotted lunch hours today, but as loudly and obnoxiously as possible, yelling and one and whatnot, just out of spite. Yo, next. Yeah. What if you...

As someone that, I mean, every time you see a hoop and a ball, it's just like, you know, it's my happy place. It's just, it's, I think you're wrong. And I think it's, I think it's pretty understood. Like we don't need more fucking signs in life, man.

Every time I see a sign for something that's painfully obvious, I just go, you know, would we just be better off if we were like, hey, if you needed that sign to not do the thing the sign is telling you to not do, can we just split up? Can we just draw a line? You get these six states. And the rest of us will take the other 44. It's like leprosy island.
