I'm so excited.

And he said, you know, Terry, you know, they're going to jump all over you.

And I said, yes, Spike, I know.

But I told a story I wanted to tell and I'm prepared for it because I'm not going to let the African-American community dictate how I tell a story.

And also when I tell a story, I wish they would just get it once and for all.

That we, not just myself, but other African-American writers, you know, we're not trying to represent the entire black race.

We are telling a story about the characters that inhabit the pages of our book.

That's it.

You know, and the ones who usually are whining and complaining are the ones who are usually guilty.
