I feel like when we look at Concord specifically, they committed to a lot of things. They committed to, hey, there's going to be weekly story drops and all this stuff, and we're like, wow, y'all believe in this game. We've made cut scenes for an entire year. I can't believe that that's going to happen. How is that going to happen? But, like, y'all are committing to this, and that didn't work out.
And you look here with, like, how they're committing, and it's like, I just, I don't know. It feels like a false sense of bravado if you're going to be like, yeah, this is the plan. We've seen it before. Avengers, right? The fucking Avengers trying to go for this live service thing with a, honestly, foolproof plan of we're going to have all your favorite heroes month after month just be dropping.

Sounds impossible. The Marvel Rivals did and is fucking crushing it and continues to dominate the media cycle.

Every single time they put something out, it's like... The whole day is dedicated to fan art of Emma Frost. You know what I mean? Anyways, it's like I totally lost the point I was making. It was good, I promise.

Yeah, okay. Thank you. That actually sparked what I was saying. Remember, and we don't know who the people are specifically, but the conversation was PlayStation bought Bungie. Bungie is now kind of talking to the rest of their teams for their clear live service initiative of, hey, there's some structure.

There's some DNA here that we know stuff because of Destiny 2 that we're going to educate the PlayStation. Yeah, we've done this before. To some extent, right? And now you look at it here and it's like, cool. Well, this is the example of that. Seems a little scary and upsetting in the wake of something like Concord. Having said that, Helldrivers 2, major freaking success.

And to give Marathon its props and not just completely write it off, they did the one thing that we all wanted Concord to do, which was just let people... After we saw the first initial preview or reveal of it, we're all like, why didn't they just let people play? and let that speak for itself.

And that's what happened with Apex Legends, and that became a huge hit because it had this, like, unique marketing strategy that's not just like, oh, shadow reveal, shadow drop. It's when the entire conversation is, yo, this game's good. I played it. It's good. That goes so far. And so, hey, at least they let people play the game here. But...

We're now at a point that you need to couple that with all the right answers. And a lot of the stuff they're saying here simply aren't the right answers when it comes to price slash not actually having a price, but knowing that it's going to have a price. Yeah. That is like this nebulous thing that gives people. Own it. Yeah, own it. And I know why they don't want to own it.

Again, tear stuff aside. Even besides that, it's like because of Concord.

Their IP, which includes Marathon. Why are they doing Marathon? Because they own that IP. So it's like, you don't get another swing at the bat at Marathon.
