Do as much as you can and always fight for the greater good.
After deep reflection and with the support of my loving family, I've decided not to seek reelection while serving out the rest of this Congress with the same commitment I've always had to my district.
Through the rest of my term, I will continue fighting for my constituents for whom I am eternally grateful.
And I also want to stress my gratitude that, excuse me, despite the fact that I have some disagreements and heavily, heavily prefer Brandon Herrera,
It is respectable and honorable that he will stay in and finish out the remainder of his term.
We can't we can't risk losing any anybody in Congress.
It's a thin majority majority at all.
And so, again, he may not be perfect, but Tony, appreciate you sticking around.
Also appreciate you doing the right thing here and stepping back and allowing Brandon Herrera to step in and just know.
that he's going to do a great job for your district, and you know that your constituents will be handed off to a good man who is going to get the job done for all of his people.
Brando Herrera responded saying, I appreciate Tony Gonzalez for making the appropriate decision.
I look forward to being the voice of Texas 23 that our district deserves.
From the border to oil theft, water rights, data centers, and many others, it's an honor to be chosen, and together we will make Texas proud.
You know what I want, my friends?
I want Brandon Herrera to walk right into Congress, walk right up to Thomas Massey, and together link arms and present a bill that sunsets, as it were, the National Firearms Act.
And what's the other one?
It was the Gun Protection Act.
Is that what it is?
