On his way, as Pizarro made his way south, first he went to Cajamarca. This was his first encounter with the Inca, or at least certainly with Inca royalty, in Cajamarca. Cajamarca was an important Inca city. And when Pizarro went to Cajamarca, The Inca knew he was coming. The Sapa Inca, the Inca king, Atahualpa was his name. He knew that Pizarro was coming.
