So they are getting these $40,000 tax returns, $80,000, $100,000, $10,000, and they're supposed to get like 20% of it or something.

And some of these people are cutting them checks.

Well, one of these guys, and this is, it's basically a phone room.

They're just calling people and getting them to do this.

And Marrero was supposed to be getting checks or supposed to be getting a portion of the refunds.

And they got some refunds.

One of the guys got like $200,000 knowing, like he talked to these guys and he gets a check from the IRS and here's your $250,000 refund.

And he immediately says, something's got to be wrong with this.

Like, well, what'd you sign all the paperwork for?

But he got the $250,000, and then I think he contacted the IRS, said this is what these guys have done.

That started an investigation.

Marrero was furious because he never made any money.

But the guys that were running the operation all got indicted, including Marrero.

They went to trial.

We're talking about like a six-week trial.

It was ridiculous.

They're all standing up talking about the fringe on the flag and maritime law and sovereign citizenship.

Marrero's name is mentioned like three times the entire time.

Because he's simply just one of the guys that got the initial call.

He got 17 years.
