And not quite always.
When I was very young, I was interested in a lot of things.
I liked to dig around in my grandmother's backyard to see what buried treasures there might be.
So for a hot second, I thought I might be an archaeologist.
I loved arguing with my brother.
I thought, well, maybe law is a thing for me.
I went through
A variety of things when you're a kid and you're imagining what you would want to grow up and do.
But when I started thinking seriously about the fact that I'd have to have an actual career in order to pay the bills, what can I do that would keep me interested for, you know, for decades?
And definitely the world of space was going to be it for me.
And then it was just about, well, what kinds of things can you do that involve space that you can have a career in?
100% Star Trek.
Star Trek all the way.
Yay!
It wasn't even a hard question.
I like Star Trek, and I don't know if I was aware of this back then, or if it's one of those things that you think about later, and then you have malleable memory, right?
But I like that Star Trek The Next Generation was very much about exploring new worlds, new civilizations, and doing it in a way that was very...
peaceful and trying to use creative problem solving in a way that didn't always resort to violence.
And for me, that was kind of the big draw of Star Trek, that and having so many different people from different civilizations working together in order to solve problems and go off and explore.
So Star Trek, all the way.
