Once it caught up to the Mamamadi, it had a brief battle before the lumbering ship surrendered.

So the fancy bolstered by this success turns their fleet to resume hunting for the rest of the convoy.
And by September 7th, only three vessels remained of the original pirate fancy fleet.
So we don't know where they started, but we do know by fact on history, they have three vessels now.
And around this time is when they finally caught up to the flagship of the Grand Mughal fleet, the Ganj-e-Siwai.
