Who's to say that we aren't just seeing patterns and otherwise the random nature and the random chaos that is the cosmos?
And how will we know if we do get something intelligent that it isn't chaos, that it is truly intelligent?
We may never know.
Yeah, yeah.
Now, coming back to it, this theory that it is alien life, you know, some people have pointed to the fact that it hasn't repeated again.
In fact, per an AP article, I do want to quote Emin once again regarding this very idea.
Here's what he said, quote, Even if it were beings from another civilization, I would have expected to see it again.
We should have seen it when we looked for it again 50 times.
Something would have been there.
We saw nothing.
End quote.
So again, even the guy who circled the signal and said, wow, and was part of SETI, props to him.
He's not just going, it is aliens.
He's actually analyzing it, right?
Like a scientist, you have a theory and you try to disprove it because if you can't disprove it, then there might be something there.
But with that in mind, I want to talk about somebody else real quick.
SETI researcher Paul Shook stated that if in fact the signal did come from an alien civilization, they would have had to possess a powerful and extremely advanced piece of equipment in order to create and emanate such a powerful signal.
Beyond that, the biggest downer is exactly what you pointed out, Fredo, the vast size of the universe.
And given that fact, if anyone were sending us a signal, the odds are incredibly rare that we would A, be able to catch it, and B, they would likely be gone by the time that we could respond.
whether it be physically or time, could have perished.
