How did that happen?

It's not even clear, but it did happen.

And so the first thing we need to fix when this is all over is the system that produced this disaster in the first place, not just a change of presidents.

That won't be enough.

We've just proven it's not enough.

You need to change the system that acts on not just this president, but every president to produce results that are terrible for the United States.

That's the first thing we need to do.

The second thing we need to do is figure out how exactly Iran was able to do this.

How did that happen?

It'd be fun to go back and look at the tape from cable news in the months preceding this war and just clip the portions where they describe what Iran is like.

All experts on Iran, not a Farsi speaker among them, but know a lot about Iran.

This is before anyone had heard of Karg Island.

They didn't know the population.

They knew nothing about the country except that it was a primitive country.

And so when the president said we're going to bomb them back to the Stone Age, most Americans must have thought, well, I thought they were already in the Stone Age.

Well, who knows what age they were in, Stone Age or medieval.

Who knows what their caliphate was really like.

It turns out that their military power and their economic power, we vastly underrated.
