As a catcher, my job and what I'm good at is receiving and quote unquote framing or stealing strikes.
So the ABS is tough, especially because umpires seem to be erring on the side of being a little too small right now.
So the catcher has to challenge as opposed to the hitter because they don't want to be
I wouldn't say embarrassed, but they don't want to be exposed when they miss a pitch that's, you know, three inches off the plate, right?
That looks worse than missing a strike call that barely nicks the corner.
So seem to be erring on the side of being a little bit smaller right now.
So that's a little frustrating, but, you know, that's part of it.
And there's really nothing I can do about it as opposed to just trying to kind of
manage when you're going to use a challenge when's the right time in a high leverage situation when's not a good time to use a challenge and then you know obviously if a ball is egregiously in the zone you know being able to to use a challenge so um it's just it's it's part of the game it's it's something new it's it's like the pitch clock was um
Yeah, I mean, the top and bottom of the zone are really small.
So it's just different with the zone being in the middle of the plate now instead of the front of the plate.
You know, balls at the top that are breaking balls that you think might be balls in the past could be strikes because they could be clipping it in the middle of the plate and vice versa with balls at the bottom of the zone.
Things...
You think it's a strike and it could be below the zone because it's being registered in the middle of the plate.
So these are just things that these are fixed things that are part of the game now.
And we just have to adapt and learn.
It's manager's decision.
Heine's in there.
I mean, you want to try to keep yourself a little bit...
Platoon neutral, if you want to say that.
