There was a show came over called Susan and Darren from the UK, and it was a mother and son talking about their lives on stage.
And I was like, well, that is a way in because you're working with stories, you're editing them, you're crafting them.
And so it was my way of sort of and then you're you're working at like you've to stage them then.
And so suddenly people were calling me a director.
But in my head, it was like I was a frustrated writer, just not working, just not sure how to get from like page one to page 90.
I think it was my first play play text, which wasn't like co-written with anyone else or a collaboration in the room with other people was One Good Turn, which was staged in the Abbey in 21 during lockdown.
I started writing it, I think, in 2019.
And so I hadn't gone through many drafts by the time it was staged, but I had finished it.
I had sat in lockdown and dream now in a, in a shed kind of going like, just, just like do the thing you want to do.
Just, and it was, it was painful.
Like it was, it was difficult to commit to, but.
Why are we like that?
I don't know.
I mean, I think for me it was like, how do I represent myself?
I couldn't really work it out.
Like that's kind of difficult enough in real life.
I'm sort of always like second guessing myself and self-conscious.
And so that sort of came across when I was trying to write
that was that same pain of like, I'll have to look at myself in a way.
