Like, immediately when I'm thinking about coolness and the NBA, I'm thinking of, like, slam covers. And, like, we're sort of missing this packaging element. of how players are supposed to be kind of cooler than they may or may not have been, right?

A lot of these dudes are like AAU guys who just play basketball for a lot of time, which is different than some of the guys from the 90s who also just went to school and hung out with friends and created their own culture and came from different regions and different regionality with different cultures. And these guys just play basketball all the time.

And I think there's this belief that if we just see them on social media, we get to know the real them, which I didn't really get to know the real versions of a lot of these dudes. What I saw was these cool package Nike ads or Reebok ads or slam covers. and this way that cool was, like, disseminated to us.
