Hello and welcome to She's on the Money, the podcast that lets you be pervy about other people's money stories, educational purposes, of course.
Welcome back to another one of our money diaries brought to you by our friends at Sky Wealth, where I get the absolute privilege of sitting down with one of our incredible She's on the Money community members and talking all about their journey.
Let's jump straight into it, because this week I got an email and it sounded exactly like this.
Dear She's on the Money.
I started uni three times and dropped out each time without finishing.
I was working in retail and I got promoted to management getting paid minimum wage.
I was working 50 hours thinking that was it for me and all I was worth without a degree.
I met my defense husband, had a baby and relocated.
Went to a new workplace with a new leader who changed my trajectory.
It's been five years.
My partner's left defense and become a mature age apprentice and I've been promoted, tripled my income, had another baby and we just bought our second house.
Money diarist.
I feel like that's not just relatable, but it makes my heart hurt.
What do you mean?
I was working 50 hours a week and I just thought, that's all I'm worth without a degree.
That makes my heart hurt.
Does it make you upset looking back being like, oh my God, she deserved so much more?
I'm obsessed.
All right, let's start this money diary.
Every time I have a diarist on the show, I always ask them the same question to begin.
