And it's not just across tech.
It's across lots and lots of other industries.
Over 300,000 people have been laid off in the first four months of 2026 in the US, which is huge.
And this is up over 30% on last year.
Now, yes, some of it is a function of the underlying economy, but...
This is a 30% increase on last year is not just because of the economy.
There is a structural kind of change going on here.
Whether you're a business cutting staff or you're a business like Spotify or IBM that are like, we are just having a hiring freeze, essentially.
And we're not hiring new people.
We're just getting everyone more efficient with AI.
It's not good if you're a job seeker.
