It does seem like you kind of are pointing out they've normalized mental distress. They've almost valorized mental trauma. That somehow you gain some benefit out of having mental distress rather than working through your issues. My sense of it is that people who consider themselves conservatives, if they're suffering from depression or they're suffering some sort of mental distress...

The left, far less likely to go to church, be religious, or believe in a higher power. How much does the lack of church attendance, the lack of belief correspond, do you think, with mental distress?
