And I appreciate that's generally how sackings go, but...
This is probably the most overt reaction that Rossini has had from fans, from Chelsea fans that is, and they've reacted basically immediately, like 24 hours later, well less than 24 hours later.
I thought it was interesting that a lot of the talk around how they were operating specifically with the signing of Rossini was that they would give it until he's had his first full season under his belt before really judging him.
which would have meant this going through to the summer of 2027, which is ludicrous when you think about it, given, you know, it also makes you wonder how much have we missed out on.
They were hugging the ball a month ago.
But it goes to show, doesn't it, that they obviously want a level of control over their managers, which is why they brought Rossini in in the first place.
So he's on a bit of a hiding to nothing.
And at the same time, they had such a good thing with Enzo Maresca and they botched it, really.
It feels like, you know, reading from Chelsea reporters who've been in the know about this kind of thing, certainly about how the board operates, it feels like Maresca came in under very similar circumstances to Rossini in that, like...
There were a few different department heads he had to report into, and there was only so much he could do, because in part he'd never managed in the Premier League before, but also that's the way BlΓΌcher wanted to operate.
And as soon as he was good enough to make demands, that's when the friction started.
So when they bring in Rossini, they essentially bring in a company man, a yes man, and even that's gone south.
So I don't know where they go from here, but ultimately it just shows how flawed the system was from the start.
I don't want to defend the players outright.
Obviously, we see this with other clubs as well.
That feels like, you know, player power is what it is and has been the case for, I suppose, longer than we choose to admit, really.
It happens to be a job when it's our dream, yeah.
but the the thing you said there about like you know they're almost uh you alluded to it about them being a product of their environment if you're if you're a player in that Chelsea squad you almost certainly know someone close to you who's been disrespected by that um by those owners by that management um by the way they operate you know someone who's been in the bomb squad you know someone who's been lied to you know someone who has been
kind of turfed out or I don't want to say in prison, that feels a bit strong, but you know, someone who has been like, you know, put in an awkward situation because of things around their contract or just the way that the club want to be seen to operate or operating.
And so when you have that, of course you're not going to, you know, if there's someone you don't really like who has power over you, you're not going to feel all that attached to them anyway.
