Because when you record it yourself, that's the master recording. You own your version of it for certain things, right? Publishing is one thing.

They can take all the publishing and you still make money off of that song because it plays places. So it's not like he made no money off of that. I just know people are going, but he didn't cash in on that because... There's still money to be made, especially in the 90s. There was still a lot of money to be made off of having a number one song in the country.
