So, you know, now we have a substantial number of people, at least at our sleep center, who are treated with that.
But, you know, it's not perfect.
It's not like you walk in as a day surgery and you're done.
You know, because the devices have to be implanted and then the settings need to be titrated during sleep,
It can take, I would say, a good nine to 12 months to get someone actually properly treated with that method.
There's no magic pill yet for sleep apnea.
I think for the first time in my career, I've actually had a significant number of patients cure themselves of sleep apnea by losing weight.
Previously, it was extremely rare where people were getting gastric bypass.
A very small number would actually lose through diet and exercise, but I can count them on one hand.
In the past year or two, I have been able to discharge patients from my clinic because they lost a substantial amount of weight, which also involves losing fat in the tissues in the neck and upper airway.
So I think the GLP-1s have really changed options for people with sleep apnea in that, you know, substantial weight loss is a potential, like, real solution, where it was kind of a hypothetical one before.
But now we're actually seeing real numbers of people lose substantial amounts of weight.
So there is so much information in the data that we collect during an overnight sleep study in the lab.
A big change in sleep medicine in the US has been that a lot of sleep studies have shifted to these home apnea tests, where we're not actually seeing the data that we used to on people being studied for sleep disorders.
So I think that has been a major loss.
We can get a lot out of, you know, say the EEG signals, the brain wave signals.
We also get a lot of cardiovascular information, you know, like heart rate variability, resting heart rate, if they have arrhythmias and so on.
So there's just a ton of information that we're collecting that right now we use to stage sleep or to diagnose sleep disorders.
But I think it would be fantastic if we could upcycle those data and get some real predictive
