And, you know, there was just always this something missing.
And every time, you know, the higher diploma in midwifery was advertised to nurses, I felt drawn to it.
And I think it's very easy for us to talk ourselves out of opportunities.
and I sort of dug deep and I said, you know what, maybe there's a reason that I've been drawn to this repeatedly every time there's an advertisement.
I applied, the babies were calling me and I had loved, you know, my placement as a student nurse in the maternity hospital so I just wanted to explore it and I have zero regrets, you know.
I'm so glad that I did.
I didn't leave any nursing behind me in a sense.
grew a new professional identity and brought lots of skills with me.
So I'd encourage anyone, you know, if you're interested,
in midwifery as a career, you know, do definitely explore the higher diploma in midwifery at the time as now.
Like, I mean, applications coincidentally are open on the 27th of May, closing on the 10th of June.
Any mix I was interested.
And that's, you know, that's exactly what
the purpose of your role is there is how you've described it you know you know people's pregnancy journeys you're you're meeting them where they're at in that journey and that could be you know a roller coaster for people so it's joy it's excitement it's worry it's concern it's unfortunately sometimes loss and grief and your role is to to be there and to support and
to hope that you've made some impact and that you've helped someone in some way.
And that gives your job a real purpose.
And I, I think, you know, we're so privileged to be around women and their families, like in those moments and to think that you could just hold space when it's needed and to share joy when it's appropriate.
You know, you really, it's, there's, it's so diverse, you know, you're meeting women where they're at in that journey.
