antibiotic era started in really robust ways in the 1940s, but we had long been engaged in our effort to try to sterilize the human experience. We did it with alcohol and everything else back in the day. Then antibiotics come along in the 1940s, and then we start using antibiotics in warfare. We use antibiotics in herbicides and pesticides for food production.
