So here's why we know it's possible.
China has diffused this technology, internet principally and electricity, to the net benefit of the average person over the last 20 years such that healthcare has gotten better, faster, and cheaper in China because the state mandates it.
China has figured out that they can manufacture BYD, which is a world-class car on any measure, and sell it for $5,000 USD with profit.
And thanks to housing measures that basically mean that Chinese people cannot get mortgages on second and third homes, China has actually created a world where the housing is not an asset class.
And so there is a combination now of technological improvements and policy improvements that will collide, I believe, to create a world where we can actually all start to enjoy the pillars of a great society, no matter where you are, who you were born to, or how much money you have.
And the reason I am certain of this is
is because if we don't do this, the kids are gonna riot.
Everyone's talking right now about the future of work.
Everyone's like, oh, it's the future of work.
And I go, look, you can engineer jobs till kingdom come, but if a kid's gotta work till they're 90 to afford their parents' house, what difference does it make?
What we need to do now is actually diffuse technology in a way that we have done so for the last 700 years to drive down the cost of goods and services, not just the convenient ones.
And in very specific ways, the way that you're going to see this in healthcare, the way that I am sure everyone's going to get better primary care is you're going to start to see private companies pull primary care out of the box, what we call the box being the hospital.
Administration services in hospitals have increased 5,000% over the last 30 years.
Care providers have gone up 50%.
So all of the cost that is found in that building can actually be pulled out one by one.
Companies like Function Health are taking lab results and putting them in the hands of individuals for $1,000 a year.
Companies like Pranuvia are taking all of your imaging out of the hospital and putting them in people's hands for $500 a year.
So one by one, we're going to start to see these pieces stripped out.
And the same thing is going to be true, I think, for education, where we're going to start to democratize a lot of the private services that have been exclusive to the elites for so long.
Really good one-on-one tutoring slowly and then suddenly is actually going to be diffused to the average person.
