In the middle of something? 你现在正在忙吗?与 “Are you busy?” 相比，这句话比较强调「现在」忙不忙的状态，前者用法较广，时间点亦包含「最近」。如果想找人八卦、想找人聊聊、或是想找人帮忙，这句话也派得上用场噢！If you’re asked whether it’s a good time to talk, you can be honest and say you’re in the middle of something.如果对方问你这时说话是否方便，你可以实话实说，表示自己在忙于某事。 2. extension number 分机号码这词汇一定要学起来，否则忘了主管的分机号码又不知道如何向同事询问，可就麻烦啦！Will you please tell me his extension number so that I can call him again?可以请你告诉我他的分机号码，让我方便打给他？ 3. Bottom line 最重要的是除了有「最重要的是…」之外，也有「最后的底限」、「不能再退让的原则」的意思！Bottom line, you bring in revenue for the company.最重要的是，你为公司带来收入。Bottom line, if moving to the cloud does not have a positive impact on the success of the business, then it’s probably not worth doing.底线是，如果改为云端计算后，对于业务的成功没有任何正面影响，那么可能就不值得这么做了。 4. out of the red 转亏为盈红色在西方人眼中具亏损、赤字的意思，大家可别喜孜孜地告诉上司 “Our company is in the red.” 他肯定不会给你什么好脸色！We’ve got to find more savings to get out of the red.我们还需要更多的存量资金才能走出亏损。＊补充＊·赚钱：in the black, make money, profitable·赔钱：in the red, lose money, unprofitable, non-profit-making 5. get the ball rolling 开始执行某事这是个很口语的说法，要开始进行企划或项目时，可以充满乐观地与同事说句：Let’s get the ball rolling on this project!开始执行这项项目吧! 6. ballpark figure 大概的数字ballpark 为球场、棒球场，ballpark figure 指的是大略估计的数字意思。在公司里，如果你的工作与会计或金钱往来相关，就一定要学会这个字了！有时候美国老板甚至会将 figure 省略，如 “Give me a ballpark .” 可别误会为她想要投资球场啦。You know, we want to totally furnish our new office. This is a list of what we need. Could you give me a ballpark figure for everything on this list?我们想要重新装潢办公室，这是我们需要物品清单，你可以帮我们估这张清单大概的总额吗？ 7. bite off more than one can chew 承受太多工作量会不会觉得自己承受太多工作而备感压力，想与同事抱怨呢？使用这个词组的时机就出现啦Rachael is working late every night. She bit off more than she could chew.Rachael 每天都工作到很晚，她承受着过大的工作量。＊补充＊multi-tasking 同时做许多事情Multi-tasking leads to a lot of switching and distractions and stress一次做多个任务将会导致一连串的转变、分心以及压力。 8. lay off (v.) / layoff (n.) 裁员口语上的说法还有 cut jobs 或 slash jobsThe worst part was having to lay off half the staff.(最糟糕的是，我还不得不解雇我的半数员工。)＊补充＊downsize 也有裁员、缩编的意思。We have been downsized to four employees.我们已经缩编成4名员工。rearrange 为重新调整的意思。The office is rearranged into 12 workstations.办公室被重新调整成12个工作站。绝招：要是真失业要找新工作时，可千万别大剌剌地说你被裁员，要说 “I am between jobs.(我正好在两个工作间的空档)”，相信面试官会比较没有顾忌的录用你！ 9. graveyard shift 大夜班shift 有轮班的意思，班制包含了日班 (day shift 或 regular shift)、小夜班 (night shift)、大夜班 (graveyard shift)She needed someone on the graveyard shift, 11 at night until seven in the morning.她需要人来值夜班，从晚上11点到早上7点。＊补充＊·9-to-5er 朝九晚五上班族I am only a regular 9-to-5er.我只是一个平凡的朝九晚五上班族.·work overtime 加班，也是加班费的意思！Just make sure you have trusted friends and relatives who can assist you when you need to work overtime or travel for your job.要确定的是，你有可以信赖的朋友和亲人，在你加班工作或出差的时候帮助你。·double time 双倍工资My boss promised to pay me double time!老板允诺付我双倍工资。·time and one-half / time and a half 一倍半的工资I like to work on holidays because I am on time and a half.我喜欢在假日时工作，因为这时的工资一倍半。 10. think outside the box 跳出固有思维模式、跳脱框架思考当老板说出这句话时，就代表着你该动动脑、想出些新奇方案的时候啦。In order to think outside the box, we need to consider every possible explanation.想要跳出框架，我们必须考虑到所有可能的解释。【办公室必备词】printer打印机；photocopier复印机；pencil sharpener铅笔刀；filing cabinet文件柜；stationery cupboard文具柜；paper shredder碎纸机；whiteboard白板；whiteboard marker白板笔；projector投影仪；noticeboard布告牌；calculator计算器；punch打孔器有兴趣学习可以我的Wechat： oralenglish
