Description

NBC Radio's WORDS AT WAR was produced in the midst of World War II from 1942 to 1945 and featured dramatized segments from books appearing at that time. The first episode describes the commando raid on the German sub base and deep water dock at St. Nazaire on the coast of France. The massive German battleship Terpitz would need this dock if she was able to venture out of the North Sea into the North Atlantic so the Brits attacked this base to prevent the Terpitz from every entering the war in the Atlantic.
