Originating from the city of Sam's godly ascent, these diseases are speculated to be linked with the malevolent entity Malice. Amidst this chaos, a charismatic political figure, Walter Bright, gains a significant following, advocating for a radical reshaping of societal norms and governance under the banner of Providence. His influence reveals a deeper, sinister identity as Lucifer, the fallen angel, now freed due to a loss of control by the demigod Cain. Cain, having absorbed Sam's divine essence unsuccessfully, struggles with his diminished powers and seeks redemption by confronting his failures and the havoc wrought by Lucifer's return.
