Sam N. Adams and Spencer Rascoff started dot.LA in 2020, which focuses on covering the tech scene in Southern California and organizing local events. It was almost a year after Spencer stepped down as CEO of Zillow Group that he shifted his attention to Los Angeles's technology and startup industry. I spoke with Sam about their business journey, as well as other topics related to the epidemic's context, LA as a location for startups, and ethics they champion in journalism. During the interview, Sam was full of anecdotes, such as Michael Bloomberg's story he learnt about while working for the Bloomberg company. The tale is about how telling the truth is important even if you're losing money, according to Michael.
