We hear about her amazing career journey and get a lot wiser on the topic of delirium and how to prevent and manage in the acute hospital setting Margaret’s Five Things: Delirium is common, dangerous and distressing for patient and family. Importance of screening and recognition and some features and tools. Delirium has a huge impact (up to 30% increase) on nursing workload, prevention is key. Delirium is often preventable through maintaining hydration, vigilance around high-risk medications, environment and mobility and nutrition and hydration. Delirium management is a team sport and the nurse is positioned well to captain the multidisciplinary prevention and management.
