The Six Ideas to Change the World series, in partnership with Keystone Positive Change Investment Trust, continues in July with Gaia Vince on Migration. Migration is one of the most underreported consequences of the climate crisis, but it is also one of the most seismic. Put simply, the changing temperatures on our planet will force us to change where - and how - we live. What will the ongoing climate upheaval mean practically? How can we prepare for mass migration, and who will be the most affected by these changes? To address these urgent and complex questions, we are thrilled to welcome award-winning journalist and author Gaia Vince back to 5x15's virtual stage. Gaia's latest book, Nomad Century: How to Survive the Climate Upheaval, is a groundbreaking investigation into this species emergency. It provides a rousing call to arms, showing us that migration is not the problem, but the solution. She will be in conversation with Henry Mance, Chief Features Writer at the Financial Times and author of How to Love Animals and Protect Our Planet. Speakers Gaia Vince is an honorary senior research fellow at UCL and a science writer and broadcaster interested in the interplay between humans and the planetary environment. She has held senior editorial posts at Nature and New Scientist, and her writing has featured in newspapers and magazines including the Guardian, The Times and Scientific American. She also writes and presents science programmes for radio and television. Her research takes her across the world: she has visited more than 60 countries, lived in three and is currently based in London. In 2015, she became the first woman to win the Royal Society Science Book of the Year Prize solo for her debut, Adventures in the Anthropocene: A Journey to the Heart of the Planet We Made, and she is also the author of Transcendence: How Humans Evolved Through Fire, Language, Beauty and Time. Henry Mance is the Chief Features Writer at the Financial Times. He writes features for the FT Weekend, and The Henry Mance Interview with leading figures, which appears every other Monday. He was previously a political correspondent and the FT's media correspondent. He is a past winner of Interviewer of the Year at the Press Awards, and the author of the book How to Love Animals and Protect our Planet.
