A Gluten Free Podcast Episode 181 Today I’m sharing something a little more personal — 7 symptoms I experienced before being diagnosed with coeliac disease. It’s a story I haven’t shared in full detail for a while, but after last week’s episode, it felt like the right time. Before we get into it, I want to thank Stephen, a longtime listener of the podcast, for joining me last week and opening up about his own coeliac journey. His honesty and insight really struck a chord with so many of you — and with me. It reminded me how powerful it is when we share our stories. If you haven’t listened to Stephen’s episode yet, I highly recommend going back and giving it a listen. In today’s episode, I’m diving into my own pre-diagnosis experience. Like many others, I didn’t only have the “typical” gut symptoms that people often associate with coeliac disease. Instead, I was dealing with a mix of physical, emotional, and mental symptoms that took years to connect to what was really going on.Here’s what I was experiencing before my diagnosis:Ongoing anxiety that I couldn’t explainEpisodes of depression and low moodPersistent joint and back painRecurring, painful mouth ulcersMood swings and irritability that impacted my relationshipsRegular constipation Reflux that would come and go randomlyLooking back, I can now see how all these symptoms were signs that my body was crying out for help — but at the time, it was confusing, frustrating, and exhausting. In this episode, I’ll talk through each of those symptoms, what I thought they were caused by at the time, and how I eventually came to understand they were all connected to coeliac disease. My goal is that by sharing my story, it might help someone else piece together their own health puzzle or feel less alone in knowing they weren't the only one dealing with these symptoms. Whether you’re at the beginning of your gluten free journey or supporting someone who is, this episode is for you.Links & Resources:🎧 Listen to last week's episode with Stephen: 🧠 Learn more about coeliac symptoms beyond the gut: https://coeliac.org.au/learn/symptoms/ 💬 Join our gluten free community and newsletter: https://www.aglutenfreefamily.com.au/subscribe 📱 Follow along on Instagram & Facebook: Subscribe & Review: If this episode resonated with you, please consider subscribing, rating, and reviewing the podcast — it really helps more people find it and feel supported on their journey.
