A Novel Adaptation

34 - We Have Always Lived In The Castle by Shirley Jackson

28 Oct 2019

Description

Would you like a cup of tea? No? Well how about a story full of dread, terror, and growing sense of unease? Excellent, that's just what's in store for you. One of these characters is full of snake oil, another is as fluffy as a bunny who needs a hug. And one is a viper waiting in the grass for you. Take a look with us as we discuss if they go far enough in the movie to capture the creep-factor found in the book.   Episode Drink: Blackberry Bramble  Ingredients ½ cup fresh blackberries 2 oz Dry Gin 1 oz Blackberry Liquor (optional) 1 oz simple syrup or maple or agave 1 ½ oz fresh lemon juice Ginger Brew or Soda   Instructions In a cocktail shaker, muddle blackberries with gin, blackberry liquor ( optional) lemon juice, simple syrup or agave, until broken up and they release their juice. Double strain, using a fine mesh strainer to remove seeds. Fill 3-4 rocks glasses with ice. Divide blackberry-gin mix among the glasses, and top with soda or ginger brew. Garnish with a blackberry and lemon zest.   From Feastingathome.com   Our Drinking Game for this Story  Take a drink: Every time someone says "Merricat" Every time Merricat reminders herself to be nice to Uncle Julian Every time Merricat practices her magic Every time Constance laughs nervously Finish the drink when you hear The Chant:  Merricat, said Connie, would you like a cup of tea?
