Six time Olympic medalist and mental health advocate Clara Hughes talks to Matt about how the "big smile" that defined her in the media and on many medal podiums was actually a mask hiding a troubled and traumatic childhood, an eating disorder, and a lifelong battle with her own mental health. She recounts her own struggles with drugs and alcohol which eventually made way for a new addiction; an addiction to sport, success, and chasing medals which served only as temporary moments of happiness until she found the strength and courage to focus on healing instead of hiding. Clara recounts the moment that set her on a path towards working on her own well being and eventually becoming a beacon of light for countless others who struggle with mental health.
