Chapter 2: How can I gather my awareness for meditation?
Now, a quick message from the sponsors of today's episode. And as always, once the meditation begins, there will be no advertisements and no disruptions. Thank you so much for being here. Hello and welcome to this guided meditation Take a moment to settle into any position that feels comfortable for you and for your body Perhaps allowing your hands to rest gently beside you
or placing them in yana mudra with your index finger and your thumb touching gently locking your energy into this moment and as we begin this practice i'd like to invite you to gently turn inward Just giving yourself a moment to collect your awareness Gathering it from all the places that it's been today The conversations, the responsibilities, the plans, the memories
Chapter 3: What techniques help deepen my breath during meditation?
The things that you've already done and the things that still remain. Just allowing yourself to gather all of that energy and bring it back to yourself. perhaps you wish to envision little threads of light returning to you from all the spaces that have held your attention throughout the day returning from people, from tasks, from thoughts simply coming back home to yourself
As you settle into this moment, ask yourself, what is the weather like inside of me today? Without needing to change anything, without judging anything, simply asking, and allowing the answer to come to you knowing that whatever is present is welcome and whatever is present is temporary and now let's gently bring our awareness to the breath
ever so lovingly following the in-breath and following the out-breath simply observing its natural rhythm its natural intelligence And how beautiful is it exactly as it is? Can you notice the tiny pause between each inhale and exhale? just letting your awareness find its way there and when it feels natural for you to do so you may gently begin to deepen the breath breathing in fully
breathing out completely as if each inhale is filling the body with fresh energy with fresh presence and each exhale is creating a little more space within
Chapter 4: How do I observe my thoughts and feelings in meditation?
As you continue breathing naturally, let's gently welcome in a simple exploration. Not one that requires effort, but simply an invitation to notice Notice the space around you Notice the space between your physical body and the room around you The space between one thought and the next
the space between one breath and another notice that thoughts may come and go sensations may come and go emotions may come and go but there is always something within you that remains The awareness that notices. The awareness that observes. The awareness that witnesses.
simply stay here not inside the thought but in the awareness of the thought not inside the feeling but in the awareness of the feeling simply observing it, allowing it, being with it stepping into your natural state of allowing, letting everything flow
Now bring your awareness to your feet, noticing any sensations that are present, maybe a bit of warmth, maybe coolness, maybe pressure, maybe nothing at all. and see if you can notice the space around those sensations the awareness holding the sensations moving your awareness into your calves Your hips. Your lower back.
Chapter 5: What is the significance of noticing space in meditation?
Your abdomen. And your chest. Your right shoulder. Your right arm. Your right hand. Your left shoulder. Your left arm Your left hand Your neck The base of your skull Your jaw. Your nose. Your left eye. Your right eye. your left ear your right ear stepping into that space of allowing as if every sensation is being held by vast and spacious awareness Can you notice the space within the body?
The space within your chest? the space within your belly the space within your mind can you notice the space around your thoughts The space around your emotions The space around your experience The space around your very existence Staying with your breath. Imagining yourself gently moving deeper into that space layer by layer.
as if you are sinking through different dimensions, different layers of consciousness breath by breath awareness becoming more spacious, more open more expansive as if you are resting in something so much larger than any single thought, feeling or experience now if it feels comfortable for you to do so
You may wish to gently allow the eyes to open by keeping a soft gaze without focusing on any one thing and simply allowing your eyes to receive the world around you. perhaps tracing the outline of an object nearby a doorway or a window the edge of a table following its shape with gentle loving curiosity
Chapter 6: How can I integrate awareness into my daily life?
Allowing your breath to guide your attention. Not naming what you see, not analyzing what you see. Simply observing it. Simply receiving it. Notice that awareness is not limited to what is happening inside of you. Awareness includes it all, the breath and the body, the room, the sounds, the light, the space. How freeing is it when there is nothing to control?
Nothing to make sense of, nothing to grasp onto. Just this moment, exactly as it is. Perfect, exactly as it is. taking a slow breath in and a slow breath out feeling the simplicity of what it means to be here the simplicity of awareness itself lovingly allowing yourself to express a moment of gratitude for this practice, for this experience.
And as you move into your day, I encourage you to slow down just enough to become aware. to become aware of your thoughts, aware of your words before you speak them, aware of your response before you automatically react, aware of how you feel in the presence of others, aware of how different environments affect you, just allowing yourself to become more aware, more connected,
allowing that awareness and that spaciousness to find you before you make a decision before you answer a question before you move into action allowing awareness to follow you throughout your day weaving into everything you do allowing life to become a little bit more textured a little more beautiful A little deeper. A little more meaningful. Simply because you are aware of it all.
When you're ready, gently bring your awareness back to the body. Back to the breath. wiggling your fingers and your toes taking one final deep breath in and a full breath out wishing you so much peace and love namaste you you
