La fontana di Piazza Pretoria si trova di fronte al palazzo comunale. Posta lì, così grande e quasi nascosta. I palermitani la chiamano anche “la fontana della Vergogna” per via delle nudità delle statue tutte attorno che rappresentano divinità e figure mitologiche. Questa fontana era destinata ad abbellire un giardino di Firenze nel ‘500. Causa morte del proprietario e successivo indebitamento del figlio, quest’ultimo fu costretto a venderla al Senato di Palermo. Durante il trasporto però alcuni pezzi rimasero a Firenze e altri si danneggiarono lungo il tragitto. Ecco perché per reinstallarla a Palermo ci fu bisogno di parecchi restauri.
