After active duty, Michael Matthews hit the road for what became a 30,000 mile back and forth trip across the U.S. and into Mexico, out of his beloved camper van called “The Mystery Machine.” Today, he is a seasoned rock climber and has climbed all over the world, including a multi-day climb that involved sleeping on a portaledge on El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. On this episode, we talk about his typical preparation for a climb, some of his hardest climbs and his scariest moment on a wall.
