Do you think discharging a huge chunk of employees at once is a sound move for a company? Is it a sensible decision to remove the strict rules and guidelines which govern the behaviour of an organisation? Is it wise to give considerable autonomy to your employees, the fear being that they may misuse that power?Well, Netflix thinks so. In 2009, when Netflix came out with a document called the 'Netflix Culture Deck' which was nothing but a presentation that contained Netflix's reinvented HR policies, people and businesses were taken aback! The document went viral and is relevant to date. Numerous people still refer to it to gain insights about cultivating an empowering company culture that is actually actionable. From cutting down on 40% of its workforce to eradicating stringent rules which guided people's behaviour in the company, Netflix made some brave and interesting moves. And it turned out to be an extraordinary decision for them as they were able to derive impressive results afterwards.
