Anything that makes you question it or feel uneasy is a sign that this might be something you are uncomfortable with, and is outside of your boundaries. Decide what behaviors you will accept and not accept. NON-NEGOTIABLES: Decide what the consequence is when someone breaks one of your rules. It is likely to happen, so decide what your response to the problem will be. And if you have non-negotiables, address what those are clearly so your partner understands if certain lines are crossed, you will leave. COMMUNICATE/LISTEN: Communicate your boundaries clearly. Even if you’re afraid they might not agree, at the end of the day, your comfortability is the most important. And listen when your partner tells you what does or doesn’t work for them. FOLLOW THROUGH: If someone crosses your boundary then do what you said you were going to do! And express how you feel. You can be compassionate, yet firm.
