AFTN Soccer Show

Episode 483 - The AFTN Soccer Show (On The Sideline Screaming Away)

29 Oct 2021

Description

The latest AFTN Soccer Show is out for another packed show of Vancouver Whitecaps, MLS, and Canadian football chat. The wild, wild West is going down to the wire and the Whitecaps are right in the mix for a first postseason berth since 2017. Wednesday's night's win over Minnesota was huge for the 'Caps playoff hopes and with two games left to play, a point may prove to be all they need. We pick over the bones of that win and look at some of the standout performances, plus we round up the midweek MLS action and look ahead to the season run-in for all of those teams battling for a playoff spot. But it's not all been happy news in Whitecapsland as the women's team abuse scandal that rocked the club resurfaced this week with allegations against another coach. With this following on from disturbing abuse allegations coming out of the NWSL over the past few months, we chat about the issue of player safety in the women's game and what lessons will be learned for future generations from these cases. And there's still time to chat about some of the other big talking points around Canadian soccer this week and bring you two more tunes from our Artists of the Month, Australian band The Chats, one of them in this week's Wavelength. Here's the rundown for the main segments from the episode: 02.24: MLS West midweek round-up 09.26: Whitecaps v Minnesota postgame analysis 36.56: MLS season run-in chat and LAFC preview 54.11: Wavelength - The Chats - 4573 57.50: Abuse allegations in women's soccer 87.48: Canadian soccer news round-up
