Join us this week where Jae Newton and Alexander Waslen, third-year medical students at the University of Saskatchewan, and Dr. Anulika Nwakaeze, a PGY-2 anesthesia resident at the University of Saskatchewan, discuss anesthesia rotations during medical school, including specific resources for medical students and ways to get involved in anesthesia outside of the core clerkship rotation. Jae Newton is a third year medical student at the University of Saskatchewan. She has a passion for medical education and a strong interest in anesthesia with a background of completing a portion of a pharmacy degree prior to entry into medical school. Outside of school, her hobbies include skiing, reading, traveling and knitting. Alexander was born and raised in Saskatoon. He completed his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering at UBC, and is happy to be back home for medical school. Anulika Nwakaeze is a PGY-2 Anesthesiology resident at the University of Saskatchewan. She completed medical school at the University of Alberta where she was a co-founder of the Black Medical Students’ Association. She has a special interest in regional anesthesia and is exploring a resident research project in pediatric fasting guidelines. Outside of medicine, Anulika is an avid singer and is passionate about travel.
