Real-time tools in filmmaking with Alex Fabre and Alistair Williams

Our next guest on the Amata World Podcast is Alex Fabre and Alistair Williams, co-founders of Phantasm VV (virtual visualisation), a collaborative production sandbox software for fast previz, pitch viz, digital recces and virtual art department. They specialise in visualisation tools, practical special effects, content creation, motion control. They deliver high end SFX on big budget features such as Indiana Jones and the Fast and Furious franchise, as well as servicing smaller productions and TV. Alex has approximately 15 years of experience in film production, specialising in physical special effects design for high budget feature films. Alex is also innovating in the use of game engines for semi-automating the control of aerial camera platforms. Alistair has 27 years’ experience in the film and TV industry. One of his unique focus points in Phantasm VV is the integration of new technology to improve efficiency, communication and safety by using 3D scanning and game engines to visually communicate and collaborate on complex action sequences. In this episode, we cover Alex's and Alistair’s backgrounds, current projects in the film industry, and his predictions for the future of immersive technologies and XR in the film industry.
