Today on Amplify Nursing, we talk with Dr. Scharmaine Lawson. A nurse practitioner, entrepreneur, and creator of the "House Call" course, Dr. Lawson has been meeting the needs of patients and practitioners in New Orleans since the early 2000s. The aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 left a profound need for care that Dr. Lawson was able to provide through her homecare service. A consummate champion of the profession, Dr. Lawson developed the Nola the Nurse children's book series to teach children about advanced practice nursing. In this interview, we talk about the book series, the importance of role models, and Dr. Lawson's adventures in nursing.
