Did ye make some unholy bond with that goat? The answer is most definitely YES! With themes such as original sin, isolation, and infant sacrifice, how could we say no to our guest artist Margaux Crump with the psychological horror movie The Witch, directed by Robert Eggers in 2015. Both Heyd and Erin watched as the Puritan family battle the forces of evil that manifested into the iconic goat named Black Philip as well as mysterious witches in the woods. Even though this isn’t considered a feminist text, Margaux discusses her connection to the titular character who occupies a liminal space that allows for kindred connections between us and the worlds that we haven’t quite yet figured out. Tangents include: refugee camps for witches, Blue Fugates family, Goya paintings, school dress code, Spiritualism, Erin's ghost story For more information about Margaux's studio practice, check out her website www.margauxcrump.com and instagram @margauxcrump Follow us on Instagram @artists.talk.movies
