David Marx Status and Culture: How Our Desire for Social Rank Creates Taste, Identity, Art, Fashion, and Constant Change Goldberg shares that the book highlights how we use art and fashion to demonstrate our social status, but the author no longer thinks it's no longer working. Why? Several reasons but one of the biggest is the ability we have to fake our "image" with filters or by photoshopping ourselves next to a private plane.
