Australian Lure Fishing

Episode 572: Saving Snagged Lures With Dan Selby

21 Dec 2022

Description

It's a simple fact that many species of fish like to stay in close contat with structure such as aquatic plants, sunker timber, wrecks, pylons, rock bars and a million other types of habitat. Or, they like to hang in the shadows beneath overhanging branches, bridges, wharves or pontoons. For those species it is critical to get your lures deep into structure or you're unlikely to get the bite. As the saying goes "if you're not getting snagged, you're not fishing in the right places". So it follows that the two most important skills for a lure fisher are accurate casting and being able to retrieve a lure that gets hung up in structure.  Today I'm talking to pro sportfishing guide Dan Selby about his strategies for recovering lures that have gone awry during the cast or have found a snag during retrieving or trolling.
