Chapter 1: What is the main topic discussed in this episode?
Yeah, there should be some passion. This doesn't have to be boring.
I know it's a topic we keep coming back to, but for good reason, the postseason is around the corner.
Chapter 2: What insights does George Springer share about postseason dynamics?
So what is it like to exactly play in the postseason? How are things different? What is the perspective? How should we view it? How should the players view it? The whole ball of wax. It's important to have this conversation because in the blink of an eye, we're going to be smack dab in the middle of postseason.
We're going to see people who thrive in it, people who don't thrive in it, people who are blown away, maybe underwhelmed. are not handling the unexpected. Handle the unexpected. I don't know. All of it. All of it. What is it like? Because it is a whole different world. So I wanted to turn to a guy who has played in 67 postseason games. That's a lot. That's a lot. Going all the way back to 2015.
And not only playing in 67 postseason games, but thriving in 67 postseason games. 19 home runs. 875 OPS, total OPS. By the way, also, and I haven't even named him. I'm going to do that in a second. In the World Series, he's played in 14 World Series games. has a 1-2-9-5 OPS.
Chapter 3: How does playing in the postseason differ from the regular season?
That's really, really good. Seven home runs. So a guy who knows what's what when it comes to taking the right approach to playing in the postseason, and that is, drumroll, George Springer. George Springer, who once again will be playing in the postseason with the Toronto Blue Jays.
So that will be fascinating to see if he can put the Blue Jays on the back, especially with no Bo Bichette, potentially no Bo Bichette, Get on my back. I'm George Springer. I know what it's like to play in the postseason. I can see it. I can see it happening. All right, all I know is this, is that you're going to listen to this baseball isn't boring on the go.
You're going to be educated, entertained, enlightened, and filled with insight. All right, here you go. Here's George Springer. There's no human being on the planet I'd rather be talking to more than George Springer right now. And what I want to talk about is what to expect in the postseason, how that is different. Until you live it, you haven't lived it, right? I mean, am I wrong?
I mean, I've never lived it, and you have.
Yeah, I mean, I kind of think I have a different perspective on it, I think. The playoffs are what you play for. They're awesome. It's such a fun time. You've already played that team, most likely. You've already faced the guy that you're going to face.
I think the biggest difference is you're one of three games that day or four games as opposed to the whole league playing, and there's just a little bit more outside kind of emphasis on the game. But I just think it's such a cool time in your life and kind of in your career. You might as well enjoy it.
So how hard is it not to make it too big, you know?
Oh, I mean, I would say it's hard, you know, but I don't I don't really think much of it. You know, I just go out there and play and just try to enjoy it, man. You go out there and you look up and the stands are packed and everybody's into the game. And, you know, they want you to win just as bad as I want us to win. And I just think it's it's it's such a cool environment.
You know, there's and like, too, there's. thousands of major leaguers that don't get an opportunity to play in the big leagues or I mean in the playoffs so just to have that chance you got to go out and enjoy it.

Chapter 4: What is George Springer's perspective on thriving in high-pressure situations?
Everything kind of normalized, and it was just another game. And it was the same goal as it was on April 1st, which was just to try to win that day. And once that kind of happened, I just kind of realized that, man, I got to go out and just enjoy this and play and have fun, because this is literally what you play for.
Literally, I talked to Mike Cameron just about an hour ago, and we were talking about this, and he said, You know, it's the balance between you know that every little thing is important, more important than any other time. So you've got to be on your P's and Q's, but also you've got to play the game. So I think what it comes back to is that you just have to understand you're good enough.
You're good enough. I mean, the reason you're there, you're good.
Yeah, I mean, as a team, you've earned it. You know, you've had to win a lot of games. You've had to beat a lot of good teams to get to where you are. And... I don't think anybody on the field takes that for granted. I think everybody on the field knows, like, the difference between one inch, you know, could be a game or not.
It could be a base, which could lead to a run, which could lead to a different decision from the manager. There's so many different things that that doesn't get lost on guys. But I think, yeah, you just have to know that you've earned the right to go play. So go play.
Well said. I appreciate it, man. Thank you.
